ODC/Dance Downtown Opening Gala
Celebrate the unveiling of ODC’s new world premieres with ODC family, fans, and artists at a festive opening night gala immediately following the performance at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. You won’t want to miss this special evening!

Small Plates
Part of our ODC/Dance Downtown season, grab a friend and come after work to enjoy complimentary wine and appetizers in the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts before our special one-hour performance. We welcome the curious, hesitant, and the uninitiated for this “taste” of contemporary dance.

Toe to Toe
Athletes and dancers go Toe to Toe as California students and some of the Bay Area's best dancers compete in one of the more unique events of the year.  Toe to Toe is a benefit for the ODC Dance Commons which serves nearly 6,000 artists and students and 45,000 audience members annually.  Fundraising efforts like Toe to Toe enable ODC to maintain low rental, classroom fees and ticket prices while continuing to provide the wide range of mentorship programs to the upcoming generation of artists.

An Afternoon in the Wine Country
October 10, 2010
This event is ODC/Dance’s annual fundraiser in Napa Valley.  Eleanor Coppola and ODC/Dance host a spectacular afternoon in the wine country on the grounds of Rubicon Estate consisting of a wine and cheese tasting, a seasonal lunch served in the historic Inglenook Chateau, and an exciting live auction.  Against a backdrop of dramatic vineyard views, the afternoon concludes with an exclusive preview performance of ODC/Dance’s new work and the budding talent of our youth company, the ODC Dance Jam. Proceeds from the event benefit the creation of new work by ODC choreographers Brenda Way, KT Nelson and Kimi Okada to be presented as part of ODC/Dance Downtown at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco.  A portion of the proceeds from the live auction directly benefit the ODC School Youth and Teen Program.

Summer Sampler
July 30-31, 2010
The Studio B. Summer Sampler follows the same format as the Small Plates concept – a reception of wine and hors d’oeuvres preceding a one-hour ODC/Dance performance.  This summer engagement provides an opportunity for audiences to see ODC/Dance between their home seasons.  Additionally, the affordable $20 ticket price and 6:30 start time attracts a wide range of new and return patrons.

ODC/Dance unplugged
ODC/Dance presents several unplugged events annually inviting guests to experience an backstage look at the creation of new work.  Brenda Way and KT Nelson, joined by their collaborative team and ODC dancers, discuss the different trajectories and iterations of their artistic vision.  The dancers then demonstrate the choreographic elements that shape the piece’s framework and finish the evening by revealing the full work in its most current state.  After the performance, ODC artists invite audience members to provide critiques, clarifications, and queries.  Feedback at this juncture often influences the further development of the piece.  The ODC/Dance unplugged series allows ODC/Dance to connect with and integrate new audiences and perspectives into our ODC family, reflecting our commitment to diversification and community consciousness that is essential to the impact of our art.
